Microblading, also known as 3D brows, is a relatively new manual method for enhancing eyebrows. It is considered to be semi-permanent, as compared to the traditional hair stroke technique done by machine. It is done using a very fine blade to deposit pigment into the epidermis. Because the color is closer to the surface, the strokes appear crisp and very fine. There is no spilling under the skin. The difference with this and ordinary permanent makeup is that microblading is not done by a machine. The pigment is manually placed into the skin. The microblading manual pen is equipped with sterile packaged blades. The blade glides with gentle pressure over the skin and causes fine cuts, as fine as a paper cut, leaving a trace that can hardly be distinguished from real hair. Depending on the drawing technique, it creates an individual look perfect for your face and the style you are trying to achieve. Above all 3D eyebrows absolutely do not appear as a tattoo.
Who can NOT have microblading?
– anyone under 18
– pregnant or nursing women
– are currently sick
– have a viral infection.
– have had Accutane within the past year
– have had Botox/injectables within the past 1 month
– have known allergies to lidocaine
Microblading is ideal for anyone wanting to enhance the look of their eyebrows. The results are natural looking hair-like strokes, regardless of the amount of the hair you currently have.
People suffering from alopecia, trigonometrical or any other condition that causes hair loss benefit greatly from microblading, as well as people who simply aren’t happy with their eyebrows.
Microblading often does not work for those with:
– very oily skin
– thyroid conditions
– auto-immune disorders
– heavy smoking habits
You may be required to get your physician’s consent if you:
– have a tendency to scar, in particular, keloid
– have heart issues
– are under physician’s care
– take blood-thinning medication or supplements
– have clotting or healing issues
– have any diagnosed medical condition, including but not exclusive to above
How long does the pigmentation last?
Microblading tends to last between 12-36 months and after this period of time may need a colour boost or refresh. The goal is to deposit the pigment at a very shallow depth as to not cause scarring. A touch up 30 days after the initial appointment may be required to fill in pigment that did not take.
Does it hurt?
Like all semi-permanent procedures microblading will require a topical anaesthetic which can be topped up throughout the procedure making it relatively painless.
How much does it cost?
**Please be advised that eyebrow technicians are NOT cosmetic surgeons. The realistic goal is not to create perfect symmetry, but to make a moderate improvement to enhance the facial characteristics which are already present. The technician must follow your natural eyebrow contour and bone structure in order to give the best results.
Remember – no two eyebrows are ever truly identical!
